Underground hip hop artist Oro WaAfrika is set to release his latest EP, SHAFT 26, on 25 July, marking the third and final instalment of his trilogy. Described as his most personal project yet, the release draws heavily from his own life, blending introspective storytelling with immersive production.

The EP features collaborations with Bunjoyi, BABA KUSHI, Tony Dangler, 500., Baq Faith, Kijana Damu, Teru Nerfetari and Ghost, showcasing Oro WaAfrika’s commitment to authentic lyricism and creative collaboration.

Reflecting on the trilogy, Oro explained that SHAFT 25, ALL GOLD: THE MIXTAPE and SHAFT 26 are all inspired by the world of mining. He uses gold as a metaphor for discovering what holds true value, describing the journey as one of separating what no longer serves us and uncovering what is most meaningful.

The concept is also rooted in personal family history. Oro recalled a recent conversation with his mother about relatives who once dug for gold at their family homestead, remembering the sound of picks and shovels outside his grandmother’s garden. Those memories have helped shape the emotional depth and themes explored throughout SHAFT 26.

The EP will be available on all major streaming platforms from 25 July.
