Johannesburg pop group Dey Say return with their new single, “Better Off Without You” (#BOWY), available worldwide on 7 August 2026. The release follows a breakthrough run that has seen the group capture audiences across South Africa while building an international following.
Built around shimmering pop production, soaring melodies and an irresistible hook, “Better Off Without You” transforms heartbreak into a celebration of confidence, independence and new beginnings — a reminder that sometimes the best thing you can do is choose yourself.

“‘Better Off Without You’ is about that moment when you stop waiting for someone else to make you feel whole,” say Jo and Dean of Dey Say. “We wanted it to feel like the moment right after a breakup when you realise you’re actually going to be fine — better than fine.”

The release builds on an impressive run of early success. Dey Say’s breakthrough debut single “Calling For You” topped 5FM’s Pop Chart at #1 and climbed into Heart FM’s Top 20, cementing the group’s arrival in South African pop. The song’s momentum carried internationally too, entering the Philippines’ Magic FM Pop 30 chart at #7 and Monster RX 93.1’s Countdown Chart at #12.

The group’s growing international reach was on full display in May 2026, when a Kenyan media tour culminated in a performance for an estimated 15,000 people at Nairobi’s Mater Heart Run.
Composed of Jo, Dre, Fabian, Dean and Chad, Dey Say represent a new generation of African pop artists channeling what they describe as ‘A-Pop’ a sound with global appeal that proudly embraces their South African roots. Their chemistry, energy and relatable songwriting continue to position the group as one of the country’s most exciting emerging acts.

“Better Off Without You” is available on all major streaming platforms from 7 August 2026. High-resolution artwork, photos and audio are available on request.
